Love You Girl by Jayda David

In response to The Channel’s current issue which focuses on Wom+n, Jayda David created Love You Girl, a love letter to the wom+n, womxn, women and the self defined, who fill our lives.

Jayda is a 22 year old Spoken Word Artist who transforms her outlooks of life, influenced by being of mixed heritage and living in working class London, into poetry.

As a facilitator at Poetic Unity, Jayda enjoys working with different communities to explore topics such as mental health and racism through the creative discipline of Spoken Word.

Poetic Unity is a Brixton based charity founded in 2015 that provides support and services for young people across the UK, who use poetry as a tool to support young people’s mental health, education, personal development, physical health, and community cohesion.

You can follow Poetic Unity on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. You’ll find them on Instagram Live every Wednesday evening with their event Poet’s Corner.

We all want to make it.
Make it in our chosen career. Maybe make it big.

Sometimes perhaps just make it to pay day.
But whatever our ambition, what unites us all is the desire to thrive, be recognised – and be supported.
And that’s what Lambeth’s Creative Enterprise Zone is all about. Supporting creative people to do amazing creative things without having to leave our amazingly creative corner of south London.
Because we all want to make it – of course – but more than that, we want to Make It in Brixton.
