Launching this Spring, The Department Store Studios is a new workspace in Brixton, that will offer a mixture of private studios and flexible workspaces, with access to fully serviced social and meeting areas. Recognising the extensive difficulties of 2020 for many creatives, they have launched an annual residency at their studios to support local young people.
As part of the residency, two young Lambeth entrepreneurs will be offered the opportunity to work at The Studios for free for 12 months. The lucky winners will be supported throughout their time at The Studios, with access to mentoring and member’s workshops, to help kick start their creative businesses.
The residency is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 who have a committed plan to start and grow a fledgling business or social initiative in 2021. Applicants must show a willingness to be an active part of the growing Studios’ community.
London-based artist Azarra Amoy and The Brixton Project’s Binki Taylor have been announced as guest judges for this years’ panel. The submission deadline is Friday the 5th of February 2021. All information along with application forms can be found on The Studios website.
