Make It Loud: Claudia Wilson

Claudia Wilson is a local DJ and owner of record shop Pure Vinyl in Ferndale Road. Pure Vinyl specialises in Soul, Funk, Rhythm and Blues and Reggae. Claudia has been dj-ing in Brixton for over 25 years, including a residency at the Mango Landin’ bar, now sadly closed. It was at Mango Landin’ that Claudia started a Saturday Vinyl fair and from there established a local and loyal audience.

Born on Saltourn Road, Claudia has lived in Brixton all her life. Growing up her whole family enjoyed music and every Sunday they would gather to listen to the charts. The soundtrack to her childhood was an eclectic mix of reggae, funk and pop. It was this upbringing that has driven her passion for music.

For this month’s issue of The Channel, and in recognition of Claudia’s contribution to the local music scene, we asked her to curate a playlist.
