The Knit Club workshop, structured like a relaxed and welcoming knitting group, open to beginners and experienced knitters to come together, connect, learn more about the craft and its radical history and produce knitted squares to go towards the Blankets for Lambeth project took place in the Pop Brixton Greenhouse. Blankets for Lambeth is Craft Forward’s seasonal project where they assemble blankets to donate to homeless individuals in Lambeth with the help of volunteers.
If you would like to help knit Blankets for Lambeth you can:
Please send as many 20x20cm (7.5×7.5 inches) knitted or crocheted squares as you like! You can use any stitch and any warm yarn, but please use needles or hook from size 4mm to 8mm only. Craft Forward will then assemble the squares together into blankets. Send completed square to: Elena Lo Presti, Tooting Works, Business Launchpad, 89 Bickersteth Road, London SW17 9SH.
The Knit Club in person and online is open to anyone interested in approaching crafting and textile art for the first time and to any creative who would like an opportunity to make together and connect with other makers, find out more by following Craft Forward.
