The Department Store Studios is a local workspace, launched in 2021 as a platform for business in Brixton.
Offering beautifully designed private studios and flexible workspaces, with access to fully serviced social and meeting areas, The Studios is also home to Bellefields, a neighbourhood bar, restaurant and screening room.
As a natural addition to The Department Store community, The Studios helps businesses succeed by offering a programme of events curated to share skills, inspire creativity and expand local networks.
With this in mind we have created The Studios Residency, offering free workspace to two young Lambeth entrepreneurs each year for a 12-month residency with access to a host of amenities to start and grow their creative idea. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview on 9 September, 2022 to present their idea to a panel of five judges. Following the interview process, the judges will agree on two candidates who will be offered a year-long Residency, starting at The Studios in September, 2022. Proof of address will be required, as well as two character referees who would be happy to be contacted by phone. Selected candidates will be profiled on The Department Store Studios social media and in local press, as part of the promotion of their proposal and The Studios Residency, unless specifically requested not to.
We all want to make it.
Make it in our chosen career. Maybe make it big.
Sometimes perhaps just make it to pay day.
But whatever our ambition, what unites us all is the desire to thrive, be recognised – and be supported.
And that’s what Lambeth’s Creative Enterprise Zone is all about. Supporting creative people to do amazing creative things without having to leave our amazingly creative corner of south London.
Because we all want to make it – of course – but more than that, we want to Make It in Brixton.
